🕊ïļDEW Foundation

Overview

A foundation in the United States is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that is incorporated under the designation "nonprofit corporation" or "charitable trust", with the main purpose of making grants to civil society organizations, institutions or individuals for various philanthropic purposes.

The term "foundation" is not a legal figure, there are foundations in the United States without the word "foundation" in their name, such as Carnegie Corporation of New York, Chicago Community Trust, Rockefeller Brothers Fund and organizations that may have the word "foundation" in their name and not be a grantmaking entity.

Designation as a grantmaking entity depends on their registration with state and federal legal authorities, and to keep it, they are required by law to donate a percentage of their assets.
