ðŸ’ŋSpaces in the Metaverse

Espacios en el metaverso como industria

The Metaverse could be defined as an evolved 3D Internet. It is about using the Internet to virtually recreate spaces in which we will be able to move through avatars. An avatar is a personalized three-dimensional character that we will have to create to access the Metaverse and that will be used to interact with companies and people.

Thanks to the Metaverse we will be able to play video games in a more immersive and realistic way, enjoy music concerts, visit virtual exhibitions, have virtual workspaces, buy virtual objects and sell all kinds of real goods.

The key is that in order to enjoy the Metaverse to the fullest, we will have to use immersive tools such as virtual reality, augmented reality or mixed reality. We will use visors, helmets or glasses to enjoy these environments.

Among the applications of the Metaverse in companies and industry, we could mention the possibility of creating remote virtual workspaces, virtual customer service spaces, showing products and their characteristics in detail online, building digital twins or virtual recreations of our manufacturing plants or offices, enabling virtual spaces for employee training, selling physical goods online through new and more interactive experiences or generating business through the sale of virtual goods with which to characterize and distinguish avatars.

However, there is still a long way to go before the Metaverse industry becomes a widespread reality. Technology will need to be developed or virtual and augmented reality viewers will need to be affordable for all users. Wireless data transmission technologies such as 5G also need to evolve. Today, the most optimal virtual reality experiences have to be carried out through wired devices and connected to powerful computers with good refresh rates.

We will have to keep an eye on everything to do with regulations regarding the use of data in the Metaverse, cases of harassment and abuse, or what can and cannot be done in this new virtual space. In other words, the debate is open, but there is still time to mature the idea.
